How to choose hydrocyclone?

Author:

The selection of the hydrocyclone is based on: 1 the volume of slurry to be treated Q (m3 / h); 2 the graded particle size (or larger size of the overflow) d (mm).

First, the cyclone diameter D is determined based on Q and d. Generally, when the overflow is relatively thick and the production capacity is high, a large size cyclone is selected and a small cyclone is used instead. When the required capacity is large and the overflow is very fine, small size cyclones can be used in parallel to form cyclone groups. Select the diameter of the cyclone D.

Relationship between hydrocyclone diameter D and production capacity Q and separation particle size d

Cyclone diameter D (mm) Average capacity Q (m3 / h) Overflow larger particle size d (mm) Remarks

50 1.5~3.5 0~0.050 Ore pressure

When P = 9.8×104Pa

75 2.5~7.5 0.010~0.060

125 7.5~15 0.013~0.080

150 12~20 0.019~0.085

200 18~30 0.027~0.124

250 25~50 0.032~0.125

300 45~65 0.037~0.150

350 60~90 0.044~0.180

500 90~180 0.052~0.240

700 200~400 0.074~0.340

1000 350~600 0.074~0.400

Secondly, according to the determined cyclone diameter (D), its structural parameters are selected: overflow pipe diameter (d overflow), gravel diameter (d underflow), feed diameter (d given), cylinder height (H) overflow pipe insertion depth ( h) and cone angle (a) can be calculated in the following order:

d overflow = (0.2~0.4)D

d sink =(0.2~0.7)d overflow

d give =(0.4~1.0)d overflow

H =(0.7~1.6)d

H =(0.5~0.8)H

a = 10°~45° (large value in coarse particle classification, small value in fine particles).

When selecting the above parameters, the size of the cyclone is later determined in conjunction with the technical specifications listed in the hydrocyclone catalog.
